Modelling the Effect of Focusing Detectors in Photoacoustic Sectional Imaging
نویسندگان
چکیده
To effectively use photoacoustic tomography to obtain cross-sectional images, a combination of a focused laser illumination and focusing acoustic detectors is used. In this work, we discuss how to incorporate cylindrically shaped focusing detectors in the mathematical modelling of photoacoustics and derive approximative reconstruction formulas. Moreover, we show how such focusing detectors combined with a focused illumination can yield a quantitative reconstruction of the material properties (the transport coefficient and the product of the Grüneisen parameter and the absorption coefficient) of a weakly scattering medium.

Photoacoustic Sectional Imaging and Reconstruction Formulas for a Single Scattering Model
We consider photoacoustic sectional imaging experiments. Opposed to standard photoacoustic imaging (see e.g. [9, 8, 6, 10] for some mathematical and physical review papers), where the detectors record sets of two-dimensional projection data over time, from which the three-dimensional imaging data can be reconstructed, in sectional imaging, a single scan procedure is implemented to be able to re...
متن کاملReconstruction Formulas for Photoacoustic Sectional Imaging
The literature on reconstruction formulas for photoacoustic tomography (PAT) is vast. The various reconstruction formulas differ by used measurement devices and geometry on which the data are sampled. In standard photoacoustic imaging (PAI), the object under investigation is illuminated uniformly. Recently, sectional photoacoustic imaging techniques, using focusing techniques for initializing a...

There exist various reconstruction formulas and back-projection algorithms for photoacoustic imaging (see the survey [4] and the references therein). Also different measurement devices for the ultrasound pressure have been suggested. Most common are small detectors based on materials, which exhibit a strong piezoelectric effect and can be immersed safely in water (i.e. polymers such as PVDF). I...
متن کاملPhotoacoustic Section Imaging with Integrating Detectors
Photoacoustic section imaging is a method for visualizing structures with optical contrast in selected layers of an extended object. In order to avoid resolution limitations that are due to commonly used ultrasound detectors of finite size, we propose the use of extended, integrating cylindrical elements for focusing the acoustic detection into the selected section. Two imaging methods based on...

Photoacoustic imaging (PAI) is a promising medical imaging modality which provides the resolution of Ultrasound (US) and the contrast of Optical imaging modalities. One of the most important challenges in PAI is image formation, especially in the case that a linear-array US transducer is used for data acquisition. This is due to the fact that in the linear-array scenario, there is only 60 degre...
